There are three types of well known headaches. They are:
1. Tension-Type: This has become most common type affecting 75% of all who suffer from headaches. They are typically a steady ache and affect both sides of head.
2. Migraine: This is less common than the former headache. This occurs mainly in females and research shows that three out of four migraine sufferers are females. It is usually felt on the left side of the head and pain is severe. Nausea and sensitivity to light and sound often accompanies migraine.
3. Cluster Headaches: This type is very rare. This occurs mainly in men. They come in clusters or groups lasting weeks or month. The pain is extremely severe but the attack is brief, lasting for hour or two. The pain centers around one eye and this eye may be inflamed and watery. History of heavy smoking and alcohol aften triggers cluster headaches.
