Treatment for Runners Knee
January 9th 2009 06:35
Treatment for Runners Knee includes strengthening the quadriceps muscle, which hooks into the kneecap and helps align it into the center of the groove. Isometric exercises that contracts and relaxes the muscles. Treatment also includes stretching the quadriceps and soft tissue massage to work on the center of the quadriceps. Work from the upper part of thigh towards the knee, stroking downwards. This helps stretch muscle fibers and alleviates the muscle contraction, which pull the kneecap up. A large dose of aspirin, two plain or buffered aspirin pills four times a day until the knee improves, also may help reduce inflammation within the kneecap cartilage.
