Happy Birthday Diet and Health
August 14th 2007 14:49
Would you believe that Diet and Health turns one today?
One year old.
And so much has happened in that time.
Diet and Health started off as a bit of an experiment … “who would be interested in finding out which foods are good for your heart,” I thought, “or whether beetroot can make your poo go red.”
But as a writer (albeit unpublished in the real world) I took up the challenge to expose the virtues of fruits and veggies. And in all honesty, I think I’ve won.
This last year has changed so much for me. I went from being an unsure and raw writer, someone who had written stories since I was “knee high to a grasshopper” but had hidden them from view, to someone who was willing to “bear all” and reveal many of the personal experiences I had during an eventful and tiring pregnancy.
I shared my experiences of vampires, children, doctors, nurses, more vampires and … well, the list just goes on. I did my best to educate anyone who was interested in the different benefits of various nutrients, foods and lifestyle choices.
And then …
…well, I had one of the most beautiful babies in the world.
And … no … I didn’t share that!
Diet and Health has thrived, surviving off my own sweat and tears (OK, so that’s a little dramatic but …) and the interest of any and all readers.
And Diet and Health has spawned an enlightened and exciting baby of its own (yes, this is a bit of blatant and unashamed advertising) … the fast-paced and noisy offspring found at V8 Supercar Pitstop. A place where nappies are always clean but bias is colourful, a place where passion is paramount and mountains are King.
Anyway …..
To all of you who have shown interest, encouragement and friendship throughout this last year … THANKYOU … *doing a really bad impression of Elvis Presley* “Thank you. Thank you very much.”
And to finish off I’m going to do something that I’ve never done before. I’m going to entertain you all with a tap dance to the tune of Beethoven’s 5th …
I’m Kidding!!!!!
I’m going to post a photo of my wonderful littlest daughter … in a fish tank.
Enjoy.

Congratulations. Bringing a virtual child into this virtual world is almost as scary as bringing a real child into the real world.
Love the pic. The wonderment of children's eyes.

Congratulations!! I love the pic of Mac, she looks mesmerised by the fish.
I also turned one in Orble years yesterday, I can't believe how fast the year has gone.
I can relate to this:
I didn't have a baby (would've liked to!!), but I also moved into writing more publically than I thought I would and could do. That's the funny thing about Orble, it seems like a safe environment to talk about those things.
Congrats again, hope you celebrate!!

Thanks.
I think it's her eyes that captured me about this photo the first time I saw it.
She does love the fish.

Congrats to you too!! The last twelve months have flown by, haven't they.
I did celebrate last night ... and now I'm totally regretting it! Shouldn't have had that last glass of wine!!!

Happy Birthday Diet and Health!!!
My blog turns 1 on 30th August, so very soon.
It's amazing how liberating writing a blog can be isn't it?? I'm much less self-conscious about my writing since I've been blogging.
Congratulations!

... and a happy Orble birthday to you too for the end of the month.
Yes yes yes. You've hit the nail on the head. I guess the relative anonimity of blogging helps to make us feel less restricted and more liberated.
Good point.

I haven't heard the song (I'm taking an educated guess and assuming it's the Happy Happy Birthday Song you're talking about and not Dad Threw Up On Christmas Day or Carrot Juice Is Murder) but I appreciate the gesture.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Happy Belated first birthday to Diet and Health. I have loved reading your blog Andrea, full of interesting information, stuff that is good for me and most important a smile and humourous and intelligent way of writing.
I hope you and the family are all well.

I guess, as a writer, much of what I want to do is entertain and educate anyone who reads my writing. So I thank you for your kind words.
My family and I are very well, we're in the process of moving home from Victoria to Queensland (a distance of almost 2000km) which is tiring but fun.
Big hugs to you and your gorgeous family too.
