What is breast cancer?
Uncontrolled growth of breast cells. It occurs in both men and women, although male breast cancer is rare.
Cause
Abnormal changes in the DNA can cause breast cells to become cancerous. The changes could be inherited, but are often acquired.
Risk may increase due to following lifestyle choice
• Not having children or having them late in life.
• Use of birth control pills.
• Post menopausal hormone therapy
• High fat diet and alcohol consumption
• Uncertain risk factors like breast implants
Symptoms
• Lump on breast (mostly painless)
• Nodes in armpit
• Rare symptoms include breast thickening, swelling, distortion, nipple discharge, pain and tenderness
