BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA (BPH)

November 22nd 2008 07:33
We have to keep in mind the below points regarding the BPH.

• All enlarged prostate does not require treatment.
• Large number of cases can be managed by drugs alone, which may have to betaken life long.
• Treatment options available are not based on the size of the gland as size does not matter with degree of symptoms or obstruction.
• After Prostate surgery BPH can recur but is extremely rare and may take 10-15 years.
• As the entire prostate is not removed during surgery, there is possibilities of cancer developing on outer zone of the gland.
