ANGIOGRAM PROCEDURE
November 8th 2008 15:18
First you will be asked to change into a hospital gown.
A skilled health care provider will start IV(Intra Venous) in your arm
You may be given medication orally or intravenously to help lower your heart rate for this examination
You are made to lie on scan table that slides slowly into circular opening in the scanning machine
The CT staff will be in the control area, adjacent to the CT room
You will be in the sight of staff through a window
Speakers inside the scanner will allow staff to talk with you and hear you
The CT staff will take preliminary scans to help define the area to be imaged
During this time you are asked to hold breath
Once the plan is established, you will receive an injection of contrast media through the IV to highlight coronary arteries
As the contrast is injected, it may feel warm
